Maria Menuonos’s book, “The EveryGirl’s Guide to Life” was awesome. I loved it. She had so many great pictures of food, makeup, her closet, workouts and her garden. It was so visual and bright. If you watched her reality show, “Chasing Maria Menounos” it’s the same house she is in the book.
She shared some recipes that she cooks with her mom. She grew up eating Mediterranean foods, mostly vegetables and no sugars or processed foods. Once she hit college she started eating horribly and ate all the food she never had before and gained 40 pounds. She chronicles her weight loss journey and how she keeps it off now.
Maria is incredibly relateable and really down to earth. I could just see hanging out with her and chatting, she could totally be one of your girlfriends. She talks about DIY and how you can learn skills that way versus paying people to doing things for you. She fixed up her house with the help of family and friends.
Maria shows readers how she keeps organized in the closet, and office. She shares pictures of how she puts away her shirts, underwear, shoes, etc. There are also pictures of her applying makeup and she shares her favorite products.
Maria shares her story of how she got to Hollywood and the people who helped her along the way. She was persistent and was not an overnight sensation. Her parents emigrated from Greece and thus instilled her with hard working principles and not being afraid to go after her dreams.
She seems like a very loyal friend. She is from Boston and keeps in touch with her old friends and visits home often. She has a chapter dedicated to the important people in her life and the importance of friendships and relationships.
She is a wealth of knowledge and wrote a great book for women of all ages. I enjoyed this book so much that I just started reading her next book, “The Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness.” Be on the lookout for the review soon!
